jackola: (back to the future)

It sucks that Kerry lost. I personally would not have minded going through legal battles to check votes. But whatever. It's done. Bush is President some more. It almost feels like it's not even happening.. I mean, wow. I'm ashamed to be an American today.

However...
Rather than crying about it, we need to remain strong. We need to look to the future. We need to make sure Bush knows that half the country doesn't agree with him.

I've been thinking about the next election and possibly candidates.

Republicans
Rudy Giuliani - NY - He says he doesn't plan to do anymore in politics though. I guess we'll see. Personally, I think he seems like a great guy, but I don't know if I like him as a politician. I haven't done enough research on him.
Dick Cheney - TX - We already know he won't run for President. He's said this before. Thank God and everything holy.
Jeb Bush - FL - Thank God he has also said he won't run.
John Ashcroft - MO - One of the more evil people in the Republican party, he's still painted as a Godly man somehow.
Elizabeth Dole - NC - If Clinton runs in 2008, what better idea than to have a woman run against her? We'd be forced to finally break the gender gap and we'd have a real interesting campaign...
John McCain - AZ - People like him from both sides. He's a very moderate conservative - fiscally liberal but socially conservative.
Tom Ridge - PA - Royal Douche bag and current Secretary of Homeland Security. He's a good liar and great at dropping plugs for his party into his speeches on Security.

Democrats
Evan Bayh - IN - Hugely popular in every county of Indiana in this election and the past few elections, I think he would be a good bet for President. He'd have the support of the Christian conservatives.
Hillary Clinton - NY - Although many democrats dislike her, I also know many that say she would win hands down without contest. The real question lies with Christian Conservatives and if they like here....
Barack Obama - IL - He's too young to run for President yet, but I can definitely see him running some day as the first black President or VP!
Howard Dean - VT - He'd be a dream come true. Socially liberal, fiscally conservative. He balanced the budget in Vermont as well. However, I'm not sure he's religious enough to get the most votes.
Wesley Clark - IL - If we're still in a time of war in 2008, he'd be a great candidate.

So there's a little future thinking. Maybe in 4 years I'll have a little more time and money to put into getting a democrat into office. For now though, we'll just have to endure the cruel and unusual punishment of a tyrannic President.

---

Until then, though, I'm going to be taking it a lot lighter on the politics. I've been so wrapped up in it that I forgot about living, having fun, doing homework, going to class, updating my websites, and have virtually lost all other conversation. I think I've disenfranchised a lot of my friends, if not my boyfriend.

To those that like the politics, I'll still talk about it from time to time. For those that would like to see less, you're in luck. Bush won. I'm tired. I worked as hard as I could to get the information to my friends to give people the power to persuade and the power of knowledge. Not because I wanted to feel special, but because I wanted the satisfaction of informing myself while enlightening others.

I couldn't pass this up.

Also, check out this map of the vote. Rather than showing states as blue or red, it shows them as a mix between the two. Most of the U.S. is quite purple.

"When people are insecure, they'd rather have someone strong and wrong, rather than weak and right." - Former President Bill Clinton, Dec. 3, 2002

Cover your mouth when you speak
I've run across a phrase three or four times today. That phrase is "liberalism is a disease."

You know, I think that's almost right. Here's another quote: "Information is viral."

Liberalism is the cumulative expression of learning many pieces of information. Do you know why poverty is a self-fulfilling prophesy? You're a step closer to being a liberal. Do you remember the solution to the Prisoner's Dilemma? There's another step. Have you learned how gay people think and feel? You're getting ever closer. Take all these symptoms plus some and put them together, and you have a liberal.

Liberalism spreads, too. It spreads from parents to children. It's rampant inside Universities. You can pick it up from the pages of books, and the more books you read, the higher chance of infection you will have.

So, sure, liberalism is a disease. It causes me to suffer when I see my fellow man hungry and cold. It spreads to my conscience when I know that innocents are bombed in my name. It gives me a fever and a flush when the wealthy are more concerned about obese wallets than they are starving children. And there's no cure, either. Once you're infected, you can't get rid of it. You can take preventative measures, though.

Ignorance is the only prevention. Stay away from books, especially history and literature. Learn to not see the poor and needy. Remind yourself that anyone hit by a cluster bomb is Them. Most importantly, close your mind to new information. What you know is right, right? So why should you learn anything different?

It's too late for me. I'm infected, and I'm virulent. I spread knowledge and compassion everywhere I go. You can still save yourself, though. Be ever vigilant against new information. Save yourself from this dreaded disease of hope for the world, and the agony I am feeling today. Stop learning and thinking, for your own sake. [link]

First there was asshole.jpg....

Then they renamed it, but another page on their site had moron.jpg...

Then they probably realized that would get them in trouble too, but replaced it with this amusing image:
