Police hunt poo protesters

Police in Germany are hunting pranksters who have been sticking miniature US flags into piles of dog poo in public parks.

Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth, said: "This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2,000 to 3,000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that time."

The series of incidents was originally thought to be some sort of protest against the US-led invasion of Iraq.

And then when it continued it was thought to be a protest against President George W. Bush's campaign for

re-election.

But it is still going on and the police say they are completely baffled as to who is to blame.

"We have sent out extra patrols to try to catch whoever is doing this in the act," said police spokesman Reiner Kuechler.

"But frankly, we don't know what we would do if we caught them red handed."

Legal experts say there is no law against using faeces as a flag stand and the federal constitution is vague on the issue.

The big picture is that in Germany people who would do this type of thing are the neonazis, normal peaceful loving German folk wouldn't do this. So by saying you'd like to take part in such activities indicates that you are standing behind their ordeals.

The nazis wouldn't be speaking out against Bush... Bush's beliefs fall right in line with theirs.

The "group" "responsible" are peaceful citizens trying to make a political statement.

I'd say sticking flags in poop is pretty peaceful.

If there's anything that drives me nuts, it's the ability of someone such as yourself to give in when they realize they're wrong, and somehow divert the wrong to the other person.

Go out and educate yourself and then come back with something worth while. Left = fascist/socialism/communist. This is not opinion any well regarded politician regardless of side will agree to this and be able to show you the similarities.

Well that might be a tad difficult. I don't know about elsewhere but here in Portland there is a pooper-scooper law: dog owners have to pick up after their pets. No doggy doo, no new real estate for Bush to claim.
