This is freakin' awesome.

It's totally upgradeable, but here's the default $499 configuration:
1.25GHz PowerPC G4
256MB DDR333 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB DDR video memory
40GB Ultra ATA hard drive
Combo drive
DVI or VGA video output
AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth optional

512MB for $99.... awesome price.

The Mini is a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, the way I want it makes it almost $1000, and I'd either have to suffer with a piece of crap monitor or buy a new one on top of that. :(

yeah, i was thinking about that too. i wouldn't buy it at 1.4Ghz... I already have a 2.4Ghz windows laptop. When this thing dies though...... I might just (hope to afford to) get an ibook or something.

Never tried out a Mac before. I've always been a fan of their work but when it came down to it, the biggest issue was always price. Now, this is pretty impressive....

Macs are pretty damn sweet, especially for graphics and for pretty much anyone that wants a nice user interface.

Well, hundred bucks more for a better UI and less compatibility didn't really seem that attractive for me last time I was in need and could afford it :/.

But yeah, this is pretty svelt!

Yeah, price has always been my gripe with Macs.

... but I love everything they make. Their design in general is awesome.

I totally agree.... however, this is a good deal for someone on a low budget or someone that just wants something to walk with in the mornings.

i do imagine having this, with no control of songs really, one might suddenly desire the full deal instead.

As neat as the iPod Shuffle looks, I don't know how well I'd deal with not being able to choose the order of my songs.
