No more radio now!
This is yesterday's big news (well, for Indianapolis anyway), so you might already know, but I think it's very interesting.
WIBC (news format) is going FM in place of Indy's pop channel, radio now 93.1. The sports part of WIBC will stay on the AM station and become ESPN radio. WNOU is going to HD radio, but it seems like they will have no on air people any more. Apparently they already had a side channel on HD that was all dance. I heard about it from one of their jockeys, though I'm guessing the format is just upbeat pop and hip-hop.
from the Indy Star:
The broadcaster is having trouble generating revenue from WNOU-FM (93.1). So Emmis banished the pop and hip-hop station to a mostly desolate high-definition tier, laid off all of WNOU’s on-air personalities and started subjecting listeners to 93 days of Christmas music. Well, OK, it’s 92 days now.
sidenote:
I can't wait for WITT 91.9... local independent music radio. Ahh, please come soon.
