Livin' La Vida Jackola
Life has been too busy for personal LJ updates, which is probably a good thing ;).
DJing and such.
I've been DJing regularly since I moved to Indy in January, and that makes me le happy. This upcoming Monday I'll be spinning at Ugly Monday at Therapy. It's a monthly event that just recently moved back to Therapy.
I'm working on picking up DJ gigs at other local nightclubs, plus I have a few other upcoming gigs, such as an art opening on September's first friday at Black Door Gallery.
Our weekly at Therapy Nightclub has been going now for 4 months and going well. We're getting great DJs in there and cool people to boot. Even if it's slow some weeks, I'm more of a quality over quantity person. I think we've put on some quality Thursday evenings.
Tonight Seth Nichols and wife/DJ LeahAnn will do their first ever public tag team set. That's pretty cool if you ask me. They've both been DJing for a while, and together run the only all-dance music vinyl store in Indy. In a couple weeks we're doing a special event called "PLUSH GOES NUTZ!" which will feature all Sound Nutz DJs.
If you care to know more about this weekly, add sideTrack on myspace. A few friends and myself run sideTrack.
RockMusicReview.com
Things have been up and down with RMR over the past few months. I've finally tackled the server issues the site was having, but have been slow at pursuing writers and getting up content. La vida loca is too crammed with stuff right now, so my priorities are constantly shifting around. Rest assured, RMR isn't going anywhere but up. Chris Donaghey is now the acting reviews editor, and he does a fine job of it. There's a few changes in the works, but I can't really say much until they happen.
Small Box Web
I've gone from freelance to part time at Small Box Web, an Indy-based web design & consulting company. I may even go full time here in the near future, who knows what the future holds. Either way, it's been going well. Freelance has been nice too. You may have seen some websites, concert posters and flyers floating around town that I designed.
NUVO Newsweekly
If you live in Indy and haven't heard of NUVO Newsweekly, then you're living under a rock and should probably just stay there.... or find NUVO and get out and socialize. Anyway, I've been writing for them since I moved here. So far I've written over 15 articles and taken photos of a dozen events for them. You can check out my stuff here. You can add NUVO on myspace here.
Broad Ripple Fall Music Festival
I'm involved in the organizing of a new festival, along with Small Box and NUVO, that will hit Broad Ripple on October 13, 2007. For that one day, over 25 venues in the 'Rip will have live bands, DJs, MC's and more. It's going to be a great thing. Stay tuned to my myspace - I'm sure I'll post more details about it soon. You can also add BRFMF on myspace.
Moved downtown.
I just moved to downtown Indy in Lockerbie Square. This area is so freakin' beautiful - I love it already. I'm just blocks away from Mass. Ave., literally right by College Ave. and just a few blocks away from Therapy Nightclub. Not to mention the house is freakin' sweet. Parties to ensue, I assure.
Have some flyers.
