MUNCIE -- All the pieces just came together.

That's how Jack Shepler, editor-in-chief of RockMusicReview.com, described a Jan. 19 music event that will include two venues and seven bands.

The result is one concert at Ball State's Student Center Tally for all ages and another at Doc's downtown for those who can have a drink or two, legally.

Shepler, who lives in Indy, was putting together a show at Doc's (he plans to do one a month there) when he heard that one of the performers he was trying to get for his show -- former Muncie singer/songwriter Maggie Kubley -- was doing a free gig earlier in the day at Ball State.

That show is WCRD's Snowball Bash, which will also feature performances by Arrah and The Ferns (Muncie), If Anything (Indy) and Dan Reisen (Portage). A RockMusicReview.com contributor just happened to work at WCRD, so Shepler made a call, and the two groups decided to help each other out.

"We've talked to a lot of people who are going to both shows because they like both line ups," he said. "But there are some people who can't go to the bar, so the Tally show is great."

Shepler also agreed that it's a good way to get kids on campus to venture downtown.

Shepler, who attended Ball State for four years before moving to Indy last month, started RockMusicReview.com in high school as a way to put all of his hobbies together in one place. He had been doing Web site design for quite some time, loved music and was just starting to get into photography. The site now hosts more than a dozen contributors, offering their opinions on concerts, albums and more.

He started putting together rock shows in November. His first was Rev. Payton and His Big Damn Band at Doc's. He admits his shows at this point are a bit personal.

"I have been wanting to do a show with Everthus the Deadbeats for awhile. The band, which formed in Muncie, now calls Indy home. "They always put on a fun show. Once I got them, I just built the rest of the show around them."

Other bands will include The Elms (Indy), The Honeybear Wild (DeKalb, Ill.) and Kubley (Chicago).

The scene right now, looks and sounds pretty good, he said. "It's never too hard to find a band to fill a slot," he added.

Rev. Peyton was definitely not my first rock show, but I loved the article anyway =).
