From the Armed and Famous blog at the Muncie Star Press:
Jack Shepler, a soon-to-be Ball State University graduate, got in touch with the Armed & Famous blog last week to talk about what he views as a strange fascination with cops in this town, possibly a tie-in with the filming of the upcoming CBS reality series here in Muncie.

He notes the names of two recent albums by alt-indie bands popular with the BSU crowd. The group Everything, Now! released an album titled POLICE, POLICE and Ari.Ari.'s album was titled, There's a New Sheriff in Town.

Shepler said, "Besides that, with all the drama with shootings [referencing the Michael McKinney shooting at Ball State in 2003] and kegs being stopped, I find it very, very interesting [producers] chose Muncie" for this reality show.

Shepler, an Indianapolis native, runs RockMusicReview.com, a Web site he created in high school.

"I just think it's odd that, in the past four years I've been a student here in Muncie, there's been this spotlight on police, somehow, this entire time I've been here," he added.

Now that you mention, Jack, we think it's kind of odd too.

Of course, Muncie's known for its past paranormal connections — Close Encounters, The X Files. Shall we add peculiar police connections to that list?
