jackola: (Bush likes to make drawrings)
This is what my brother posted on myspace:
I just wanted to take a moment out of this wonderful evening and answer any questions concerning the photo in place of my "extended network". That photo has been placed there to simply remind you to be careful who you vote for in 2008... I'm pretty sure with the type of comment Senator John Kerry made will most likely kill his shot of running for President, but I think it's necessary to make judgment where judgment is due. What a DICK. I have many friends in the armed forces and I assure you none of them are there because they failed to study or pay attention in school. This isn't a shot at the Democratic party... this is simply a shot at John Kerry. That ignorant fuck should watch his words. He was in Vietnam... does that mean he feels as if he failed to study and pay attention in school??? Of course, after he was in the Vietnam war he protested it, and then 30 years down the road he uses his Vietnam campaign as a main point for "we the people" to vote for him. Anyone dumb enough to vote for this guy should think about looking in to his character just a little bit more. Granted... democrats vote for democrats, and republicans vote for republicans. But when that time comes around take a look at that picture and you tell me what type of person you want running your country.
Here is my response:
Jon,

I know it's easy to get upset for what he said. It was definitely a dumb statement, but it was definitely not his intention to say anything bad about the troops. that would be extremely dumb of him to do that on purpose. you even point that out yourself. he'd be putting himself down. given the number of times bush has botched such a statement, i think it sucks how far the media went with it.

with that said,
have you read about what he really meant to say?

he never said anything about the troops. look at his words! never once. he wasn't talking about the troops, he was talking about bush. bush barely made it through school, ran an oil information company into the ground, and then became president of the united states.

he was referring to the education of bush. he meant that it's bush's lack of education that got us into such a war. when he says "get stuck in iraq" he's referring to us being stuck in iraq. as in now we're in iraq, and we're stuck thanks to bush's lack of doing homework, not making an effort to be smart.

Here is what he said:

"You know education. If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well, and if you don't you get stuck in Iraq.""

Here is what his notes said to say:

“Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.” In his delivery, he dropped the word “us.”

It's a shame he is so dry or it might not have been such a slip up. he doesn't just play it off like an idiot when he messes up. he just sucks at communicating.

Anyway, it seems the attempt by the republican party worked. it seems to have fooled you into thinking that's what he meant.
