this is pretty interesting.

US researchers have devised a simple robot that can make copies of itself from spare parts.
Writing in Nature, the robot's creators say their experiment shows the ability to reproduce is not unique to biology.
Their long-term plan is to design robots made from hundreds or thousands of identical basic modules.
These could repair themselves if parts fail, reconfigure themselves to better perform the task they have been set, or even to make extra helpers.

(no subject)
So I was reading a Christian conservative's blog today and the first entry tries to explain all the different political systems in the world and US. I thought some of it was funny, although it is very very nice to capitalism and pretty much against anything else.

Drudge caught once again...
I've posted about his exaggerations and fabrications before. Drudge will do whatever he can to exploit certain stories and not even mention others. In this case, it furthers a reactionary's cause if something like yesterday's capitol building evacuation is made to look as bad as possible: it helps with creating fear. FYI: he was also the whistle blower on the Clinton-Lewinksy ordeal.
It's starting to sound more and more like yesterday's panicky fleeing of the Capitol and its environs was really more like a mass smoking break than a frenzied me-first retreat. Compare and contrast: On the left, the June 9, 2004 evacuation. On the right, yesterday's.-from Wonkette
But you know -- or at least Drudge knows -- the first rule of journalism: Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.RUN! [Drudge Report]

Don't you love feeling like you're just a number?
(Note that the eye in the pyramid is often seen as the symbol of 'big brother' and the new world order)
