Alabama - where fascism thrives?
Alabama is just not the place to be unless you're white and straight.
The state voted on a measure to remove segregation-era language from their constitution, which mandated separate schools "for white and colored children" and allowed poll taxes, which were once used to discourage blacks from voting.
This amendment failed by 1,850 votes and the state is currently doing a recount.
No, you read that right. The people of Alabama have spoken and obviously believe segregation has a place in their constitution. That's not a very good image to have in today's world.
Oh, and this:
You'd think history would show that you can't pretend something doesn't exist by burning away evidence that it existed. Jewish people are still here and will continue to be. The same goes for homosexuals (who have existed since the beginning of humankind).

Oh, and this:
MONTGOMERY - An Alabama lawmaker who sought to ban gay marriages now wants to ban novels with gay characters from public libraries, including university libraries.Let us not forget how Hitler got support for "cleansing Germany". I don't care who you are or what political beliefs you have, this is the same damn thing all over again.
A bill by Rep. Gerald Allen, R-Cottondale, would prohibit the use of public funds for "the purchase of textbooks or library materials that recognize or promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle." Allen said he filed the bill to protect children from the "homosexual agenda."
You'd think history would show that you can't pretend something doesn't exist by burning away evidence that it existed. Jewish people are still here and will continue to be. The same goes for homosexuals (who have existed since the beginning of humankind).
Allen said that if his bill passes, novels with gay protagonists and college textbooks that suggest homosexuality is natural would have to be removed from library shelves and destroyed.
"I guess we dig a big hole and dump them in and bury them," he said.
